Arcology Now is dedicated to a revolutionary vision: the creation of the UK's first Pragmatic Arcology. Our mission is to merge the realms of architecture and ecology into sustainable, self-sufficient communities that not only offer a superior quality of life but also minimize environmental impact. Through the establishment of a pilot Pragmatic Arcology, we aim to set a precedent for future living spaces that are both community-oriented and environmentally conscious.

Our approach is grounded in the principles of regenerative design and Doughnut Economics, aiming to demonstrate that it's possible to live in harmony with our planet without sacrificing the comforts of modern urban living. Pragmatic Arcologies embody this balance, offering a living model that prioritizes the well-being of its residents and the health of the ecosystem. They are designed to be scalable and replicable, with the potential to redefine urban development globally.

To realize this ambitious goal, our efforts are focused on outreach to build a supportive community, meticulous planning to ensure the success of our pilot project, and fundraising to gather the necessary resources. Each step of our journey is guided by a commitment to sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity, inviting all who share our vision to join us in shaping a future where living in alignment with ecological principles is not just possible, but a thriving reality.

Our Goals

The primary goal of Arcology Now is to establish a pilot Arcology in the UK.

The following goals are in service of that primary goal:

  1. Outreach: spread the word about Arcology Now and Pragmatic Arcologies more generally, and encourage others to join our cause.
  2. Planning: obsessing over the design, systems and amenities of the pilot Pragmatic Arcology to maximise the chances that it succeeds.
  3. Fundraising: currently, Arcology Now has low running costs, but building the pilot Pragmatic Arcology will be an expensive project. To ensure maximum chance of success, we will require consultations with skilled professionals in fields such as architecture, ecology, and energy. Specific fundraisers will be planned as and when these requirements are clarified.
